Re-edited and presented in its original performance sequence. 　　Note - This is not the original Jimi Plays Monterey, made in 2007 it has a short documentary lead in to the complete concert footage which is why i'll list D.A Pennebaker as the director.

As a young boy, Shantha Murthy ran away from home to escape the extreme poverty of his Indian village. He travelled the country in search of work, holding onto the belief that one day his life would change. It did, following a serendipitous encounter with a Texan couple. He travelled back to the US with them, but his American Dream was not to be fulfilled. Karla Murthy’s film weaves together home videos and phone conversations recorded during her father’s stint as a gas station attendant, while also reflecting on her own identity as a first-generation American. What emerges is an intimate love letter – a meditation on a complicated father-daughter relationship and a poignant tribute to the immigrant working class.

Chet Baker（查百克）生于1929年的奥克拉荷马，自己曾经组积米歇尔三重奏乐队。1952年是他的转折点，在这一年，22岁的他加入了加利帆克乐队，1953年开始在欧洲进行巡回演出。1959年，他被人打掉了所有的牙齿，这对于一个以吹号和歌唱为生的音乐人来说不只是一个沉重的打击，但他还是凭着过人的意志和勇气用三年时间克服了不利因数，重新登台演出。他的音乐给人一种纯真、叛逆、虚无的感觉，你可以从他的眼睛里感受到一股难以掩饰的忧郁，就像从他的音乐中听到了他灵魂的呼吸。

The electrifying concert was taped at the legendary Apollo Theater in New York City, where Mars kicked off the show in spectacular style with an epic performance atop the Apollo's landmark marquee.
